Celeste's minutes

Celeste triple-checked all the posts and says it adds up to 30 hours 16 minutes. I double-checked tonight too & it looks like she made it! (she wonders if something didn't get added into the total somewhere along the line) No biggie, but she wants to make sure the end is right.

We're SOOOOO excited to see everyone!

Pollock Post for Week 10/1

We had a great week!  Matt learned to ride a bike last week. Jackson has a bike with no training wheels and Matt wanted to try it and he just took off.  Only minor crashes and I can hardly get him off it.  That is all he wants to do!  I'm thankful the weather is getting better so we don't die of heat stroke!

We have really been enjoying this excercise.  Aubrey has enjoyed biking the most.  DeeAnn has enjoyed running and the work out videos.  Kourtlyn is happy to be playing basketball again.  Brittney had band camp 2 weeks prior to school starting.  So, that kept her busy, hot and working hard on the field!  Kaylee is in PE and using that for some of her hours and jumping on the trampoline with all her sibblings and the neighborhood friends.   We all went on a bike ride for home evening a couple weeks ago.  That was fun!  Ryan loves riding his bike and Lindsey is just figuring it out!  It is fun!

Hope everyone is enjoying this as much as we are enjoying it!

Have a great day!

Find Your Greatness!

1. Pollock's Minutes for the week of 8-20-12
Preston-4 hours
Melanie-4 hours
Bradley-3 hours
Carter-3 hours
Jackson-1:30
Matthew-1:30

There is a Nike Commercial that was made for the Olympics that I'm not able to figure out how to attatch it, but it is called "Find Your Greatness".  While it is about sports it is also applicable to our theme of "Win From Within".  We all have "GREATNESS" with in us.  We just have to find it.  We need to stop focusing on other's "Greatness" and focus more on our own and magnify it and us it to bless the lives of others!  That in turn will make you feel even more... "GREAT"!  So this week, the challenge to you all is to "FIND YOUR GREATNESS" and use it for good!  Also remember that "Out of small and simple things, are Great things brought to pass".  You are all GREAT!

Modest Workout Shows!

I just wanted to share this link to BYU TV's Total Body Workout!  I don't like putting on work out videos very much around my kiddo's because they always show midriffs and busts!  I don't want them to have to see that.  It's hard to find a workout DVD that is modest.  But BYU TV has a show called Total Body Workout that has 35 different episodes listed online that you can turn on and exercise to.  Hope it helps!  If the link doesn't work, just go to BYUTV.org and go to the bottom and under "explore shows" click on "lifestyles".  Then total body workout will be the image on the very right i believe.  Click on it and then you will see five of 35 episodes you can click on.

Graham Minutes

woo!  whata week!  I am on an antibiotic for an ear infection and some other odd things.  So my week wasn't as great as i had hoped.  But i did exercise on one of the hardest days so i felt proud of myself for that!  My head was pounding from my ear infection and i was so tired and achy, but i had to deliver some RS birthday gifts because it is my month to do that.  And i had to exercise!  The birthday gifts were already late, and it was the only open day to do it.  So I decided to turn it into something good and asked Josh if he would go on a walk with me to deliver them all.  I pushed Stella in the stroller and Josh rode his scooter and i walked and ran for 45 minutes while we delivered them.  It was so much fun!  Josh rode ahead of me on one street and when i caught up to him he handed me a flower.  It warmed my heart and I felt such gratitude for my son and for the outing we were having together.  What a memory we made.  The pounding lessened as i exercised and returned when i was done.  I felt blessed.  And now i feel blessed to have an antibiotic working on the infection!  So grateful for medicine!  The experience reminded me of a quote by elder Faust.  It's more about service, but i can relate it to this situation too.  " The Master taught us that “whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.” Some of the most rewarding times of our lives are those “extra mile” hours [given in service] when the body says it wants to relax, but our better self emerges and says, “Here am I; send me.”  Cheers to another week!  Good job everybody!  Go! Fight!  Win from within! :)

Jason-3:00
Kerrie-2:00
Josh-2:30

I love the theme "Win from within".  It's similar to our AZ Tucson Mission motto:  "Choose to Become".
Grandma Judy and I wish that for each and all of you...no matter how young you are.
May you each choose to win from within.  That strengthens your character with eternal ideals and principles.
Those ideals become part of your personal character, and that will help us continue as an Eternal Family.
We love you!  Gdad and Gma Judy  :)

Elder Udall

We noticed Spencer is listed as a participant. How fun! We haven't asked him to record his hours, but he walks everywhere he goes, and his current city is built on very steep hills! He is getting lots of exercise and said he's really glad he did scouts to get him used to hiking :) So, all you young boys, keep on keeping on! You're awesome!!!

Mom Had a Question

Hey everyone!  Hope your week is going well! FYI: You can count exercise that isn't just cardio.  Like, pilates, stretching, free weights, yoga, muscle toning, etc. are all very healthy and can totally count toward your minutes!

Posting your time...

Ok, so for all who are new to blogging, or like me (technologically challenged) here is how you will post your minutes:
1.  Up at the top left of the screen is a icon that says "New Post".  Click on that and a new screen will pop up on your screen.  There will be a spot that says "Post" or "Title" and there you can put anything like "Minutes for Dad", Or "Debra's total exercise minutes for the week", etc.
2.  Then below the title there is a box where you can write your minutes, share some thoughts about your week, etc.
3.  The last thing to do is click the word "Publish" and then it will post your message on the blog. I then can tally up all the hours to keep track of everyone in case they lose their hours or forgot, etc.
4.  If you have technical difficulties contact Kerrie or myself and we'll walk you through it.

Love you all!  Happy exercising!

Rules for the Exercise Challenge

1.  We will begin August 6, 2012 and will end November 16, 2012.
2.  The total hours to meet our goal will be 30 hours of excercise in 15 weeks.
3.  You can achieve the goal however works best for you and your schedule.  If you exercise 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week you will finish early with 3 weeks to spare.  If you have weeks that you are sick or your kiddos are sick, or you have a busy hectic week, no worries, you will have time to make it up.  Kerrie has made a couple charts to help track your time and will post them for anyone else who would like to use them.
4.  Each weekend, by Sunday night you will need to post your minutes/hours exercised for the week.  I will keep a tally of all the hours so I can reward you at the reunion for making your goal!
5.  There may be some questions about what qualifies for exercise minutes that you can count.  This will be on your honor.  I would say that whatever gets your heart rate up.  If you feel that heart pumping and working then count it.  Walking, riding bikes, running/jogging, dancing around the house to your favorite song, work out videos, push-ups, sit-ups, leg lifts, cruches, free weight lifting, etc.  You know your body and what is work for you and what gets that heart rate going.

I just heard Elder D. Todd Christopherson say that self confidence doesn't come from people telling you how great you are, you gain self confidence by accomplishing hard things.  It comes from being faced with hard challenges and overcoming them and feeling that sense of accomplishment.  So, when you set your goal to accomplish this exercise challenge, remember that you are gaining self confidence which will, in turn, help you to "WIN FROM WITHIN!" All right!
